Rad Prot Tech I, II & Sr

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE


Perform radiological surveys on the primary, secondary, auxiliary systems, plant buildings and grounds.

¬ JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES


¬ 


1. Sample materials for radiological release. Provide contamination and dose control. Maintain the Radiation Work Permit Program.


2. Track radiation exposure for personnel and work tasks. Determine methods to reduce radiation exposure.


3. Provide radiation protection coverage for work tasks. Establish worker stay times. Establish radiological work requirements.


4. Respond to off normal conditions. Maintain radiation exposures ALARA. Maintain radiation exposures within limits.


5. Develop shield packages. Develop flush plans. Radiologically post the power plant.


6. Respond to off normal radiological conditions. Understand adverse radiological conditions on equipment and personnel performance. Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education required of the position:


Desired: B.S. Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or a related technical degree or equivalent work experience. Naval Nuclear Power School and Engineering Laboratory Technician School.

Minimum experience required of the position:


Rad Protection Tech Sr.: 6 years commercial nuclear experience. At least 2 years' experience at the facility. Rad Protection Tech III: 4 year's commercial nuclear experience. Rad Protection Tech II: 2 year's commercial nuclear experience. Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operations. Rad Protection Tech I: High School diploma or GED.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position:


Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operations. Outstanding communication and conflict management skill. Proficiency with current computer business applications.

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position:


Meet or exceed ANSI/ANS 3.1-1978. ANSI Section 4.5.2‚€“ Technicians The standard specifies this as Journeymen Level Personnel, Radiochemistry Technician, Nuclear Control Technician, Nuclear Control Technician (I&C), Metrology Technician, Radiation Protection Technician, Lead Technicians. High degree of manual dexterity. Individuals in training or apprentice positions are not considered technicians or maintenance personnel for purposes of defining qualifications in ANSI/ANS 3.1 section 4 "Qualification," but are permitted to perform work for which qualification has been demonstrated. See applicable Reg. Guides (i.e., RG 1.8), ANSI / ANS Standards (i.e., 3.1 - 1978), and site TSs / FSAR / Procedures for any additional specific requirements.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
