This position is located at the Natchez Trace Parkway in the Port Gibson District . The primary function of the Maintenance Mechanic Leader (MML) is to apply journeyman level trade skills in carpentry, plumbing,painting, electrical,mechanical, welding, equipment repair and equipment operation to maintain and repair all Parkway facilities. In the absence of the Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor, the selectee serves as Acting Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor,supervising the Parkway employees and day-to-day operations in each district.As necessary for backup purposes, or to meet peak or unique demands, performs all other field work, including mowing, pavement maintenance, custodial services, and grounds maintenance. In addition, the Maintenance Mechanic(Leader) assists in administrative duties including record keeping, purchasing,and asset management. The incumbent possesses the necessary authority and autonomy to execute the duties of the position and to assist other Parkway personnel and operations as may be necessary to meet peak or unique demands. Emergency call-outs can occur 24/7.
Must possess Class A commercial drivers license in the state of residence within one year of date of appointment. Failure to obtain and/or maintain CDL may be grounds for removal from the position.
Water and waste water certifications and licenses are required and necessary to operate District facilities. Failure to obtain and/or maintain these certifications and licenses may be grounds for removal from the position.
The Natchez Trace Parkway is a 444 mile scenic byway stretching from Natchez,Mississippi to Nashville, Tennessee. This position is located at the Tupelo Sub District Maintenance facility in Tupelo, Mississippi.
